Why I Wiped the Canvas Clean: The Story Behind a Pivot
𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘯 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘴𝘰𝘭𝘪𝘥.
The workflows were mapped.
The marketing was done.
Everything was ready to rise…
until it wasn’t.
Not because anything broke, but because something shifted.
In me.
And when you’re building a business rooted in alignment, you listen to those shifts.
What I realised was this:
I wasn’t just creating events for business planning.
I was holding space.
And the space needed to stretch.
💜 This Pivot Was About Purpose
I took a step back and looked at who I was really doing this for. Not a “target audience,” but real people:
Parents growing businesses while raising kids
Disabled founders who are tired of navigating inaccessible rooms
Solopreneurs doing purpose-led work who just want to be seen and supported
So, I pivoted. Properly.
I didn’t just tweak a few details. I scrapped the original canvas and started again.
💜 Here’s What That Looks Like Now:
✅ Childcare isn’t an afterthought, it’s built in
I’ve partnered with Strhive CIC, led by my friend and client James Hopper. I’ve volunteered at their sessions and seen firsthand the energy, the connection, the joy. This isn’t babysitting. This is a powerful experience for your children while you pour into your business.
✅ The venue is fully accessible
Saltburn Community Arts Centre offers step-free entry, wide doors, accessible toilets, and importantly, no awkward entrances. Just dignity, ease and welcome.
✅ You’re included, not just accommodated
This isn’t an “access-friendly” event in name only. It’s built from a place of “you were always meant to be here.”
✅ Post-event support is part of the experience
Every RISE event includes 30 days of gentle accountability via virtual coworking. So you don’t leave buzzing with ideas… only to get lost in the scroll and lose your spark. I want your plans to breathe and grow, not collect digital dust.
✅ There’s soul in the structure
Yes, there’s strategy. But we make room for joy. An optional beach net-walk is part of every meetup, and if navigating the sand is too much, I’ll walk the prom with you myself. This isn’t fluff. It’s community care.
